United Way also helps Lee County residents with referrals for emergency food, housing, medical care and all kinds of other assistance every day, around the clock, through 211. Just dial 211 from any phone; you'll be able to speak with a live operator who will tell you where you can find the help you need.
As a local affiliate of the United Way Worldwide, the United Way of Lee County is one of about 1,800 independent, community-based organizations in 41 countries. Each local affiliate is separately incorporated, governed by a local board of directors, and charged with raising funds for local projects. Contributions remain right here in Lee County, where they are used by neighbors and friends to care for those who need it most. Throughout the year, staff and volunteers assess emerging needs and work with a wide variety of agencies to determine priorities to strengthen Sanford, Broadway, and all communities throughout the county. Not only does your contribution help others, but the United Way's accountability standards give you peace of mind, knowing that your contribution is being used wisely and for the purpose it was intended.
